Cardiology Butte
Born in Peru, Dr. Carlos Albrecht graduated from the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal, School of Medicine Peru, with his Doctor of Medicine. He spent two years in Japan, completing a Basic and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at Kyoto University. Dr. Albrecht then moved to Chicago for an Internal Medicine Residency with Cook County Hospital. We did a year of Preventive Cardiology at a newly created combined program from Harvard Medical School/VAMC West Roxbury before completing a Cardiology Fellowship with the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Dr. Albrecht is interested in all aspects of invasive cardiology, including diagnostic catheterizations, peripheral angiography, 3D transesophageal echocardiography, and the insertion of permanent pacemakers and ICDs. He loves every aspect of nuclear cardiology, device interpretation, and his interactions with inpatients and outpatients. Each year, he procures dozens of donated pacemakers and ICDs, visits Peru, and inserts them into the indigents in the Lima-Peru region.“I will care for you as you are my father, mother, and wife. One day, I will be a patient, and it is my wish to have a doctor who approaches me the way I do. I ask LOTS of questions. I have never used female/male or race to identify a human being.”When not working, Dr. Albrecht enjoys the company of his wife, kids, and friends. He likes to read and play the piano and cooks at home almost daily. He looks for every occasion to travel, hike, bike, and ski.
